Recorded at Magnetic South in Bloomington, IN, five-piece, post-punk rock outfit Kam Kama came out of the gate swinging in early 2012 with this gorgeous, six-track EP on upstart imprint Sister Cylinder. Limited to just 300 copies on white vinyl, this record is a must-have for listeners who enjoy a hefty dash of melodic melancholia with their rock n' roll. (45 rpm)

Ratings are based on a scale from 0-10.

Overall Sound:

The EP was mastered by renowned Hoosier engineer and producer Paul Mahern (The Fray, John Mellencamp & many more). Here, Mahern let's the tunes speak for themselves. Scott Ferguson's vocals are up front. The drums are restrained, in the rear of the recording, without sucking the life out of them. This decision allows the interplay between the synth and guitars to steer the ship.

Pressing Quality:

This is a really nice, coherent package. The jacket glossy and feels durable. The sleeve is made of heavy black construction paper. The glossy lyric sheet is a nice touch. More importantly, this record has it where it counts. The 180-gram, white vinyl is top notch. Our copy had some very minor spotting on the a-side, but it was purely cosmetic and nitpicky. Their was some minor warping, but nothing that remotely effected playback. Great package all-in-all.

Vinyl Noise:

Very quiet pressing throughout. No static, popping, skipping or inner groove distortion whatsoever.

Overall Artwork:

The artwork is simple but coherent. Every piece is in black and white. The front cover features the band's name and the EP's title above and below a checker board design. The rear cover just features the track listing. There's no additional artwork on the sleeve or lyric sheet.

Overall Extras:

The album includes a digital download code. The 180-gram, white vinyl is pristine. The lyric sheet is a nice bonus as well.
