REM's excellent third album re-issued by UK audiophile label Simply Vinyl. This is my personal favorite REM album, so even though I own an original IRS pressing from the 80s, I wanted this audiophile pressing. All the Simply Vinyl pressings I own are all excellent and this is no exception.

| Well, the sound is clear as day, however I'm certain that Simply Vinyl used a digital master of the album, which means that while the overall sound is very clear, the bass response is not as good as the original IRS pressing. Reissue labels take note - use the analog master if at all possible! | |

| The cover art here is a reproduction of the original and is not as dark as the originals. They also put the spine label upside down (compared with the original). Of course, this album has an odd cover layout where upside and downside are pretty relative. | |

| Like the audiophile quality inner sleeve, but I miss the original inner sleeve artwork and credits. Also comes in a very heavy plastic sleeve that Simply Vinyl packages all their albums in. I don't really like these, as they are inconvenient, so I discarded mine. But it will certainly protect your record if you don't ever intend on listening to it. | |
