Vinyl Pressing Review

Holiday Band

A solid release from Joyful Noise. Definitely on the heavy rhythmic side of things as many releases on the label. The band, from Bloomington Indiana, features an all star Bton cast including producer/studio owner Mike Bridavsky who has been involved with numerous quality projects for years now. I recommend this for fans of heavier Indie rock- both the music and vinyl. I'm digging it.

Ratings are based on a scale from 0-10.

Overall Sound:

7.50

Not the loudest record, a somewhat flat sound, not a lot of low end, which might be intentional in terms of mixing or mastering. Still, a very clear, clean pressing that sounds good when the stereo is cranked up a little.

Pressing Quality:

8.00

Very well pressed, no weave or manufacturing errors to be found. Very little inner groove distortion but some noise as noted below.

Vinyl Noise:

7.00

Some noise. More on side two during quiet passages. Nothing major but more than one would expect/want.

Overall Artwork:

8.00

I love love love anything that David Woodruff does and this is no exception. The re-working of an old book for the front and back cover works really well.

Overall Extras:

8.00

Nice lyrics insert and digital download.
